About The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic analyst to support the development and implementation of FAIRR’s engagement with investors, companies, and other stakeholders on a protein transition. In this role, the successful candidate, will work in collaboration with the wider team to develop proprietary research and data to support the need for a protein diversification, demonstrating financial materiality. This includes market research, monitoring the innovation pipeline of new companies and biotechnologies, as well as monitoring and reviewing regulatory and wider policy developments impacting the food technology space and country level ambitions for a protein transition.

Key Responsibilities


  • Support on both company- and industry-level research, with an emphasis on sustainability outcomes and financial impacts. 
  • Support on activities and administrative tasks related to FAIRR’s Protein Diversification Engagement.
  • Contribute to the further development of FAIRR’s company assessment frameworks as part of wider organisation efforts to integrate and consolidate benchmarks. 
  • Monitoring scientific advances in the space, writing blogs/updates and communicating to our investor audiences as well as assisting with queries.  
  • Expand our internal databases on policy, company activities, investments and technology developments. 
  • Embed relationships with alternative protein companies and help to grow our engagement with them. 
  • Coordinate and support responses to policy consultations.
  • Support organising events relating to the protein diversification and the wider food technology space. 
  • Contribute to special projects and other team’s activities across FAIRR, supporting alignment between FAIRR’s Research & Engagement and Policy teams. 
  • Represent FAIRR at external events and conferences in the responsible investment and food technology space

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent research and analytical skills – both qualitative and quantitative – with strong attention to detail. Ability to identify relevant trends in large data sets and derive conclusions based on the analysis.  
  • Strong project management skills, including an ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. Evidence of scoping and tracking projects and managing resources to time constraints.   
  • Demonstrable experience of interacting and working with business professionals and the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.  
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of responsible investment and shareholder engagement activities. 
  • Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of the alternative protein industry, including awareness of the different types of relevant technologies. This knowledge can be from a combination of education and some professional experience.
  • Experience in organising events and coordinating professionally with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and communicate both verbally in writing. 
  • Proactive attitude and a confident and professional manner in dealing with senior business professionals.  
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint (and Office 365 in general). 
  • Willing to occasionally attend conference calls in different time zones outside normal working hours, and travel to conferences and events occasionally (less than 10% of the time).  

Desirable Criteria

  • A background in nutrition, food policy, food technology and/or sustainable food systems is desirable. Awareness of social risk and just transition would be helpful.
  •  Experience of working with investors or research experience linked to alternative protein product development and manufacturing would be a plus.
